Arsenal vs Fulham: 11 Goon salute

Following Tottenham’s victory over Manchester City, which sealed fourth place in the Premier League, the race for third is the latest sideshow after the title deciding games.

Arsenal must win or draw against Fulham to be sure of their spot, and at 1.2 for the win on Bet365, they are strongly tipped to do so.

The bookies haven’t given Fulham much hope in this tie given their much more important game against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening in Hamburg. The Cottagers have played a record number of games this season and with a small squad, fatigue will also play its part.

Roy Hodgson failed in an attempt to have the game brought forward to Saturday in an attempt to give his players an extra day of respite. As it stands they have only two full days rest (not including travel) before Wednesday’s Europa Cup final.

Arsenal have had another patchy season, typified by a 2-1 loss to lowly Blackburn (who admittedly have a strong home record) on Monday evening. They will be hungry for a return to form and the certainty of a third place finish.

As you would expect, Arsenal are strong at home and have won 14 times at The Emirates this season with only two draws and two losses. Fulham’s away form has been their Achilles heal, meanwhile, with just a single win and 10 losses on the road.

There’s no doubt Arsenal are the superior team, and with home advantage in their favour plus Fulham’s desperation to avoid fatigue and injury ahead of their big day, only one result is likely.

We suggest spicing up your bets by backing plenty of goals (for Arsenal) and perhaps a clean sheet for the home side, given the absence of Cottagers’ talisman Bobby Zamora (see recommended bets above).
